TERRY FRANKS
AND REFLECTIONS (1981-1993)
AND THE AVALONS (1993-2006)

From 1964 to 1979, Terry wasn't on stage regularly although he did enter the Talent Competitions on holiday and regularly won his weekly heat of such things as the Butlin's Star Trail. Towards the end of 1979 Terry decided it was time to get back to what he loved doing so he contacted some musicians he knew and got together a band; they called themselves Terry Franks And Reflections. The new band consisted of Lou Feltimo on Bass, Billy Law on Lead and Colin Sheaf of the Terriers back on Drums. The boys spent 18 months rehearsing to get everything just right before they did their first gig in 1981. For the next four years the band line-up stayed the same and they found themselves booked to perform at least once a week at various Social Clubs and Private Functions. The picture above shows them on stage at Blazers nightclub, Windsor in 1983 - this pictue is not reversed, both guitarists really are left-handed!

In 1985, Billy Law left the band so Pete Hennessy (who also backed Terry as part of The Terriers) took over on Lead. Colin Sheaf also left with Barry 'Buck' Herbert being drafted in to replace him. The band continued to find that they had a full diary and performed without break until Pete Hennessy sadly passed away from a heart attack during the interval whilst the band were performing at Maidenhead Ivy Leaf Club in December 1989.

After discussions, the band decided to continue and Colin Richards came in to once again back Terry as he had done in the original Avalons, but this time on Lead Guitar. During the mid-90s the band decided to change their name to Terry Franks And The Avalons to avoid being confused with another band with a similar name that were now on the Club Circuit. The Avalons line up changed only once more, when in 1998 Barry Herbert left to be replaced on Drums by Dave Allen.

Terry Franks And The Avalons (Lou, Colin & Dave) eventually hung up their Guitars, Drumsticks and Mics in October 2006, bowing out at the Curzen Club, Reading. After 25 years on the Club Circuit first with Reflections then with The (new) Avalons, Terry had now spent a total 30 years as a performing artist.
